Examinations
Examination Services:

Examinations
At Oz Animal Hospital, we take a thorough approach to your pet’s daily health. Each consult includes a comprehensive physical exam, a nutritional assessment, a behavioral assessment, and tailored recommendations to maintain your pet’s best health.
Sick Visits
We understand there’s nothing tougher than seeing your pet not feeling their best. We have in-house capabilities to diagnose and treat your pet promptly, ensuring their needs are fully addressed.
Vaccines
We take the time to understand your pet’s lifestyle to recommend only relevant vaccines to their exposure. We follow the most up to date recommendations on effective, minimal vaccine schedules to avoid overloading the immune system. Each vaccine product used is carefully selected. Most of our vaccines are non-adjuvanted and thimerosal-free, meaning they are free of added chemicals and materials that overwhelm some and are the main cause of vaccine reactions in animals. We are confident in the safety of our vaccines and will even cover any expenses related to reactivity in the rare chance that one should occur. We support vaccine titers where relevant.
Immunizations are a crucial part of your pet’s health care. Some immunizations are recommended yearly while others are given every three years. Usually administered during an annual exam, we work with you to develop an individual vaccine protocol that best suits your pet’s needs. While dogs and cats have some of the same vaccinations like rabies and distemper, they also have different vaccination needs based on the diseases that can affect their species.

Puppy & Kitten Visits
Your first consult will be an in-depth preparation of all recommended routine and medical care for your new companion. We will make a plan together on your pet’s recommended vaccines and care schedule while teaching you techniques to provide home care for your pet as well.
We also offer puppy socialization and training classes. Research tells us having these classes in young puppies with a certified trainer makes the biggest difference in the mental health of pets later in life. We want to ensure you and your pet have the best quality of life together in the future possible.
Chiropractic Care
Animal Chiropractic is a field of animal health care that focuses on the preservation and health of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system. Why? Nerves control everything that happens in your animals. Anything adversely affecting the nervous system will have detrimental effects that will resonate throughout the entire body. The command centers of the nervous system are the brain and spinal cord which are protected by the spine. The spine is a complex framework of bones (vertebra), ligaments, muscles and nerves. If the movement and biomechanics of the vertebra become dysfunctional, they can interfere with the performance of the nerves that are branching off of the spinal cord and going to the all of the muscles and organs. As this occurs, your animal can lose normal mobility; resulting in stiffness, tension, pain and even organ dysfunction. Additionally, when normal movement is affected, and left unattended, it will ultimately impact your animal’s entire wellbeing and quality of life.

Microchipping
This unique form of identification is an easy, yet permanent way to bring your pet home quickly should he/she become lost. The microchip is a tiny electronic device, about the size and shape of a grain of rice. It is implanted beneath your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades and stays there for his/her entire life. This procedure is as easy and as painless as a vaccination.
Each microchip has a unique number. This number, along with information about the owner and pet, is added to a national pet registry. Most veterinary hospitals and animal shelters have electronic scanners for detecting and reading these implanted microchips. If a lost pet is found and a microchip is scanned it is easy for you to be contacted.
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy can be helpful in the treatment of many different conditions such as chronic ear infections, inflammatory bowel disease, allergies, lick granulomas, degenerative joint disease, arthritis, and hip dysplasia. Laser therapy also increases the healing speed for wounds and surgical sites. The therapeutic or cold laser emits low-level light that penetrates tissues and produces biochemical reactions within the cells. These reactions promote cell regeneration and healing and can decrease inflammation and pain.
At Oz Animal Hospital we can manage arthritic pain with medications, supplements, weight loss, and laser therapy. Our doctors and staff have been specially trained in laser therapy and can help customize a treatment plan for your pet.

Pain Management
At Oz Animal Hospital, we believe in maximizing the comfort of your pet during and after his/her surgical procedure. Proper pain management improves your pet’s recovery and speeds the healing process. We use a multi-modal approach to pain management. A multi-modal approach refers to the layered administration of small amounts of different drugs to minimize any pain that your pet might feel during or after the procedure. Because we administer lower doses of each individual drug, your pet will experience fewer adverse side effects, more complete pain relief, and faster post-operative recovery.
Pet Care Referrals
At Oz Animal Hospital, we prioritize your pet’s well-being beyond medical care by offering referrals for trusted boarding, daycare, grooming, and dog walking services. We’ve partnered with local providers who share our commitment to exceptional care, ensuring your pet is in good hands whether they need a safe place to stay, a grooming session, or regular exercise. Your pet’s comfort and happiness are our top priorities, both in and out of the clinic.

Boarding / Daycare Facilities:
We highly recommend asking for a tour of the facility before deciding on where to take your pet – that way you can decide where you feel most comfortable with them staying.
